Predictions before birth

Before Buddha was born several seers predicted that he would either become a king or accomplished Buddha. In previous lives many Buddha’s predicted that Buddha would become enlightened

There were many prophesies made about Jesus before he was born. These detailed his birth, miracles and death. An example of a prophet who predicted Jesus’s life is Nephi.

Mother’s were told about their son’s before birth in a spiritual message

Buddha’s mother found out that she had conceived a important child in a dream. During this a white elephant came down and placed a flower in her womb, indicating that the child would be pure.

Mary got told that she was pregnant with a child by the angle Gabriell, the bearer of good news. He told her that she would have a child who she should called Jesus and he was conceived through the Holy Spirit.

Born outside in settings in touch with nature

Buddha was born in a grove of trees

Jesus was born in a manger, with the animals around him.

Taught to the poor and oppressed

Buddha was known for teaching anyone who would listen from beggars on the street to Kings

Jesus was known for often going and teaching leapers, and other groups that were not always accepted by the wider community.

Had a group of disciples

Buddha had five disciples, all of which were men who would go on to become Buddha’s in later lives.

Jesus had his twelve disciples who traveled with him, learning and preaching.

Very little historically recorded about either

Most of the information about Buddha had been passed down by word of mouth through the Buddhist Monks.

The earliest written section of the Bible, the main record of Jesus, was created over 50 years after his death. This means that all the information about him in secondary.

Unsuccessfully tempted by the devil while becoming spiritual leaders

Buddha was tempted by a daemon to give in to sensual pleasures the night before he attained enlightenment.

When Jesus went out into the desert for 40 days the devil tempted him to take advantage of Gods power and to worship a false idol.

Preformed miracles for the people

Buddha’s miracles were teaching people so that they would one day be able to become a Buddha.

Jesus performed miracles to teach the people lessons about life and God.

Both lived their life and died humbly

Buddha gave up all of his worldly possessions and lived he life in parks

Jesus had very few material possessions and traveled preaching the word of God.

Death in the garden

Buddha died in a garden, lying on his side between two sal trees

Jesus was arrested in the garden to be crucified

Mothers journeyed to birth place

Buddha's mother gave birth when she way journeying to her families home.

Jesus' mother gave birth in Bethlehem while registering.
