Today Buddhism is one of the largest religions in the world with people practising it in India, China, Tibet, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Japan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal as well as remaining a strong presents in the western world.

The ideals and beliefs which were first taught by Buddha continue to be taught to the present day in all of these countries. Buddhist monks pass down the stories of Buddha, as it has been done for thousands of generations, and will undoubtedly carry on into the future.

With a estimated 500 million Buddhists in the world today the religion continues as a solid factor in society in the twenty-first century for people around the globe.
